Hi Lara,
cashews are rather high in fat. so like almost everything, in moderation they are ok. I would just break them into small pieces and use them as treat. and if she eats fruit and vegetables, a little bit more should be ok too;-).
thanks for the compliment

Hello. I was wondering if cashews are ok to give to my cocatiels? One in particular loves them...I lure her into the cage at night with cashews. I buy organic raw cashews...Is that ok for bird? In large amounts :-)))?

Great blog by the way

Hello Irina,
thank you for your feed back.
I know that plantain almost immediatly relieves pain, heals very fast and leaves almost no scar. some bird bites tought me that :-). a tea might help with the itching skin. also, cooking some leafs for a short time and adding them to the fresh food. they are very nourishing.
have a great week

I love reading all your posts, Gudrun, thank you! I give plantain seed spears to my budgie and cockatiel regularly and they love them! Pick out all the little seeds. I was thinking of boiling some plantain leaves and then spraying my little feather-plucking Timneh with the water in which the leaves boiled. Do you think it would be good and soothing for his skin?
I remember when we were children and had a scratch or a cut while running about, we would find a plantain leaf, rub it abit and place it on the scratch. I think it worked! :D

Hi Lada,
thank you for your question.
well, I started to make an omlett, but it turned out to become just a fried veggie mash. I think that was not very clear. so, I will write a post where I make it clear and share one of my omlett recipes too. and yes, the omletts I make, are for cockatiels too.
cheers
Gudrun

Please forward your omelet recipe, as I could not locate it in your chat. Is this omelet applicable for cockatiels and 'keets as well?

Hello Judy,
thank you for your comment. I never heard about chocolate mint before. I know chocolate beans, from which our chocolate is made, are poisoning for parrots. but I don't know about the plant itself. do you know which plant was used to create the chocolate mint? if not, I have to research which plan the mint was crossed with.
cheers

Hello Gudrun! I too love the mint and recently added to my porch garden Chocoalte Mint. Knowing that chocolate is considered to be a food to be avoided in consideration of our feathered and furry companions, I would like to know if Chocoalte Mint can safely be given to my parrots.
